Eric Mulholland, MA, LMHCA

(He/him/his)

Greetings, my name is Eric Mulholland. Thank you for taking time to learn more about me and my approach to counseling. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA) with the state of Washington.

I earned my master’s degree in Expressive Arts Therapy at the European Graduate School (EGS) in Saas-Fee, Switzerland. I did my undergraduate studies in Southern California at the University of LaVerne, where I specialized in creative dramatics for children. I’ve been a schoolteacher, a professional actor, and a facilitator for international youth programs and trainings for adults.

My primary therapeutic approach is Person-Centered, to be present with the client in a safe space where deep listening happens. Together, we may decide to use additional modalities from my training in Expressive Arts Therapy (EXA), where clients use art materials to explore the challenges they face. The object is to use the art-making process as a tool to locate inner resources within oneself for meeting challenges, making change, and awakening possibility. In this way, EXA is compatible with Solution-Focused Therapy. When appropriate, I use Somatic Embodiment and Self-regulation techniques, and Mindfulness based practices to foster a body-centered awareness for cultivating balance and peace of mind.

I strive to create a warm and judgement-free environment within my scope of practice so that what wants to be expressed can be shared freely. My aim is to provide a respectful place where my clients can feel challenged to be bold and brave in our work together. I do my best to support each person in their goals and to meet them where they are at during each session. I have a keen interest in working with folks who are exploring questions and concerns around: Loss, Grief, Caregiving, and support for the LGBTQIA+ community.
