Lori Spears, MA, LMHC
I am Lori Spears and I work with families, couples, individuals and youth who seek help for a range of relationship and mental health challenges. I have experience working with many issues such as (but not limited to) anxiety disorders, depression, behavior and school problems, relationship difficulties, parent reunification, divorce, domestic violence, grief and loss, ADHD with children with developmental delays, and parenting issues of all kinds. I gained much experience at Navos Mental Health where I worked with children and families facing a range of mental health, developmental and behavioral problems.
My therapy approach is client centered/existentialist but I also utilize many behavioral therapy tools. This means that I listen deeply to your experience of the challenge you wish to work on in therapy. I also bring in behavioral approaches and tools when called for. I draw on many resources and tools to meet varied needs. I also provide play therapy to make therapy developmentally appropriate for children. I am sometimes directive and provide structure to clients stay focused on the therapy goals you wish to meet. I tend to stay focused on current challenges you face in your life and work in “the here and now”. Together we craft a specific therapy plan that is right for you and where you are at in the present moment.
A little about me:
I am a parent of two grown children. As an undergraduate I focused my studies on Philosophy, particularly religious philosophy as well as Native American studies. I have an interest in holistic medicine.
