Shallamar Salas, LMHCA
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate in Washington State. I earned my BA in Psychology from The Evergreen State College and went on to train in Person Centered and Psychodynamic Therapy in the United Kingdom. I received my Master’s in Counseling from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland.
I offer psychodynamic and person-centered therapy while drawing from a range of evidence-based approaches depending on individual circumstances. My work is strongly informed by person-centered theory, which emphasizes empathy and better understanding our experiences in order to make changes that allow us to live with more authenticity and fulfillment. My approach is coupled with psychodynamic theory, which considers past life experience as formative of how we relate to ourselves and others.
I have worked with clients ranging from adolescents to older adults with concerns that include relationship challenges, communication issues, managing times of change and transition, recovery from trauma, depression, anxiety, grief and loss. I view therapy as a collaborative process where I will endeavor to meet you at whatever stage you may be in and to create an environment that is both supportive and empowering. I look forward to connecting with you.
