My name is Alexa Harmon and I am a Mental Health Counselor licensed by the State of Washington (LH 60031952) since 2008, also certified in Case Management (4216474) since 2015. I received my BA in Psychology with a Minor in Criminology from the University of New Mexico and my Master of Counseling degree from the University of North Texas.

I grew up as a “Third Culture Kid” in Latin America and Asia. I have also lived on both US coasts and a smattering of States in between. I moved to Washington in 2007 and have lived in West Seattle since 2009. I enjoy spending time with my family and exploring the Pacific Northwest. I also have a variety of hobbies and interests that range from crafts, cooking, and gardening to outdoor adventures. I love everything our area has to offer.

My approach is as an Integrative Therapist. This means that my background is client-centered with training and extensive experience in CBT, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, and Behavioral Therapy. When working through issues, I believe it is important to understand and gain deeper awareness of the mental, physical, and spiritual factors that shape each person’s life and how that plays a role in their experiences.  The type of approach is determined by you, the client, by using the best modality for what you are experiencing. I recognize that not every approach is a perfect fit, thus I am flexible to work with you as a guide, with experience and tools, to address your unique and personal needs. Our sessions are in a judgement free zone with empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity.

I have worked in almost every area throughout my career, including triage, outpatient, and inpatient settings for large organizations and small practices. My clientele is primarily teens, adults, couples, and families. My specialties include working through life changes, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, menopause, OCD, ADHD, people with special needs, caregivers, substance abuse recovery, serious mental illness, and Wellness Recovery Action Plans.
